Inspiration is one of the key elements to self-development. Without inspiration people are less likely to want to work on themselves or any area of their life. This is what Elevate is looking to change. Elevate is to inspire and support young dancers interactive workshops and one-to-one support.
Elevate is one of the newest programmes offered at The Movement Factory. This self-development programme is all about helping those aged between 16-20 to build their confidence, resilience, and skills. We spoke with Ellie, a dancer at The Movement Factory about what inspires her and how Elevate can help her achieve her goals.
Some of her goals include training in Los Angeles and one day owning her own dance agency. When speaking about her long-time plans, Ellie notes that to be able to achieve any of these goals she needs to have a solid dance background and knows that this will take dedication and hard work. “I need to make sure that I am always training, not in just one style but multiple styles,” she says.
Elevate supports dancers in the programme with ambitions such as this as it provides monthly workshops and weekly drop-in sessions with highly skilled youth workers.
Along with supporting the physical aspect of dancing, Elevate is also here to nourish the mental well-being of its members. Along with the workshops and drop-in sessions, Elevate is also offering free counselling in one on one sessions for those who need the extra support.
A community of like-minded individuals has been created through Elevate and The Movement Factory. Dancers of all backgrounds can come together here and know that they are not alone. “Dance has changed my life as it has made me socialise and come out of my shell more,” says Ellie.
This is just one of the goals that Elevate hopes to achieve for all of its members.
